Assemblyman Gordon’s statement on Harvey Milk Day

SACRAMENTO, CA - Assemblyman Rich Gordon (Menlo Park), Chair of the Legislative Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Caucus, released the following statement on Harvey Milk’s Birthday. Harvey Milk was the first openly-gay elected official in California who served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Harvey Milk, along with Mayor George Moscone, was assassinated in 1978. Harvey Milk would have been 83 years old today.

Assemblyman Rich Gordon’s statement on banning reparative therapy in California

SACRAMENTO, CA - Assemblyman Rich Gordon (Menlo Park), Chair of the Legislative LGBT Caucus, released the following statement in response to the signing of SB 1172.  Signed into law over the weekend by Governor Brown, the new law bans for minors reparative therapies, which aim to change one’s sexual orientation.

SACRAMENTO - The California Legislative Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Caucus celebrated June 2012 as LGBT Pride Month with the adoption of House Resolution 29 at today’s Assembly Floor Session.  As part of the floor ceremony, the LGBT Caucus honored seven individuals and two organizations with the 2012 LGBT Pride Recognition Awards in appreciation of their extraordinary accomplishments in their respective field of endeavors and outstanding leadership and activism to promote equal rights for LGBT Californians.
