Sacramento– Today, Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego), chair and vice-chair of the California Legislative LGBT Caucus respectively, made the following statement on behalf of the LGBT caucus in regards to the Supreme Court’s decision to allow the military to ban transgender service members: “Allowing this toxic and irrational policy to go into effect is counter to our American values, and classifies thousands of brave transgender Americans as less than full citizens. It is immoral and an outrage. To our transgender service members, we are always grateful for your service and will continue to fight to ensure you are entitled to full equality, including your ability to serve your country honorably.” ###
