AB 25 (Migden) – comprehensive domestic partnership bill that would give gay, lesbian, and senior opposite-sex couples several basic rights to take care of each other.
Status: Approved by Governor Gray Davis. Chaptered by Secretary of State – Ch. 893, 2001 Statutes.

 

AB 276 (Migden) – extend statute of limitation for filing civil claims against perpetrators of hate crimes from one year to two years.
Status: Approved by Governor Gray Davis.  Chaptered by Secretary of State – Ch. 813, 2001 Statutes.

 

AB 1015 (Wright) – prohibit employment discrimination based upon a person’s lawful conduct that occurred outside the premises of the employer and outside the person’s hours of employment.
Status: Approved by Governor Gray Davis.  Chaptered by Secretary of State – Ch. 820, 2001 Statutes.

 

AB 1193 (Steinberg) – require that insurance coverage cannot be cancelled or refused solely based on one or more claims for a loss that resulted from a hate crime committed against the insured’s person or property.
Status: Approved by Governor Gray Davis.  Chaptered by Secretary of State – Ch. 253, 2001 Statutes.

 

AB 1475 (Liu) – extend harassment prohibition to persons employed by religious health facilities not performing religious duties.
Status: Approved by Governor Gray Davis.  Chaptered by Secretary of State – Ch. 909, 2001 Statutes.

 

SB 225 (Kuehl) – extend nondiscrimination policy to interscholastic athletic activities and provide complaint process and resolution.
Status: Approved by Governor Gray Davis.  Chaptered by Secretary of State – Ch. 889, 2001 Statutes.

 

SB 257 (Kuehl) – require comprehensive school safety plan to include hate crimes prevention.
Status: Approved by Governor Gray Davis.  Chaptered by Secretary of State, Ch. 890, 2001 Statutes.

 

SB 381 (Chesbro) – require that cities or counties’ human relations commissions include groups protected under current anti-discrimination and hate crimes laws and other groups subject to prejudice and discrimination.

SB 1049 (Speier) – permit death benefits and survivor’s allowances be payable to the surviving domestic partners of San Mateo County employees.
